My boss's wife has been feeling sick for a few weeks. Last Friday, afraid her symptoms were pointing to a heart attack, they went to the ER. Everything was fine with her heart, but they did some blood tests and found she had Acut Lymphocytic Leukemia. She started Chemotherapy on Saturday. Sunday night they moved her to ICU. This afternoon she died.
I cannot begin to express how horrible this is. Oh, I'm glad that if she had to die, she didn't have months of agony fighting the cancer. That's no way to live. But for my boss. Who came through a nasty bitter divorce (after 20 years of marriage) and finally found a way to move past it and trust and love again. Only to have her taken from him after 8 months of marriage. (They'd been together for several years before that.) I'm just glad that they did have the chance to get married and have these past happy months.
But that's not where I lost my temper. Although it helped - a lot - in unleashing my tongue. It was a series of posts on the BB about President Bush pardoning Scooter Libby. I mean, the anger and party line crap that gets poured out of all of us. It just hit all my buttons. Especially the idea that Bush leaving office is going to bring about some kind of miraculous end to everything wrong in this government and country and world. Please. What's wrong has been wrong for generations. And will be wrong for generations to come. It's nothing new. Won't ever be new. Anyway. Here's what I posted:

Pretty much covers every administration out there in my opinion. Past, present, future.
I'm probably going to regret posting this. All I can say is in my grief and anger over the extremely unjust death of my boss's wife, this irritates me. I'm sick to death of stuff like this. Of drawing these lines in the sand by party, and carrying on like one is better than the other. They ALL do stuff like this. It's just whichever one is in power that gets slammed the most. Switch the party in power, and we get selective amnesia. Just wait until after the next election and everyone will be slamming the democrats again.
I think what is getting people so riled up is the fact that it IS both parties. That it never changes. And just gets more blatant with each administration. It's so infuriating, we have to believe "our" party is better than that because it is "our" party. We know we're better than that, so of course any party we affiliate with must be better than that...
Add in the fact that all we see day in and day out on the news and everywhere else is endless arguing and refusal to listen to other opinions and black-and-white reporting, and name calling, and yet more arguing and talking over each other. It's insane.
I cannot truly be the only one that this did not come as a surprise too. I figured he'd be pardoned as soon as the courts said he couldn't stay out on bail. What did any of us expect? Justice? There's no such thing.
Republican OR Democrat - it doesn't matter. They ALL play the game the same way. It's how you get and stay in office. If you have money or power or both you will get away with whatever you want. Regardless of anything or anyone else. Regardless of the law.
And while I'm not an expert, and as much as I dislike Bush and the current administration, this is nothing new. Clinton is always brought up in comparison. You can look further back than that. Look at President Grant and his administration...I mean, talk about corruption and graft and blatant disregard for the law...
It's there. It's always there. No matter what we do as voters. Not even a revolution, which we tried in 1776 and look where we ended up. With the same old same old. Frankly, the only way to stop it is to remove humans from the equation.
So there you have it. I'm so disgusted with it all I could just scream. The politicians don't care. And frankly, we don't care either. Not really. Because if we did we'd change it. We'd find a way. My god. We put a man on the moon in the 1960's. Get real. We could change it if we damn well wanted to.
